- Oracle Forms Maintenance vs Oracle Forms Migration: What’s the True Cost? For years, Oracle Forms has been the backbone for countless mission-critical applications. However, as technology evolves, the cost of maintaining Oracle Forms has become increasingly unjustifiable — driven not only by licensing and support fees but also by the growing talent shortage and the cost of keeping scarce Oracle Forms expertise in-house.
- Understanding ORMIT™-OpenJava’s Oracle® Forms compatibility service The Oracle Forms compatibility service (OFCS) is a critical component in the ORMIT™-OpenJava architecture, designed by RENAPS to ensure compatibility with Oracle Forms features while embracing modern web standards. Its inclusion is intentional and allows for seamless handling of legacy Forms logic, centralized validation, and optimized code management.
- Understanding Concurrency Management After Migrating Oracle Forms to Java with ORMIT™-OpenJava Concurrency management in modernized applications requires rethinking session control, locking, and performance compared to traditional Oracle Forms. This article explains how ORMIT-OpenJava handles concurrency distinctively, with scalable patterns for multi-user environments that preserve data integrity, reduce contention, and align with modern web architectures, providing smoother experiences and fewer runtime conflicts.
- Understanding Key Mapping after an ORMIT™-OpenJava migration ORMIT™-OpenJava keeps the same key mappings as Oracle Forms by default, ensuring a seamless transition with no change management required. Fully customizable via key_mappings.mjs, it offers improved readability and control.
- Break free from Legacy: A guide for Oracle Forms and Oracle Database users Migrating Oracle applications to open-source technologies can lower costs and broaden talent pools, but requires disciplined planning, compatibility mapping, and quality gates. This article outlines approaches, trade-offs, and best practices to ensure functional parity, maintain performance, and manage risk when transitioning from proprietary Oracle stacks to open-source alternatives.
- Case study: Oracle Forms automated migration to React/Javascript (2024) A leading insurance company, headquartered in Europe, contacted RENAPS in 2024 seeking a modern, automated migration solution to transition from their legacy Oracle Forms and Reports to a scalable, JavaScript-based architecture with a React frontend. Their objective was to modernize their systems to improve operational efficiency, integrate seamlessly with modern platforms, and meet evolving security and scalability requirements.
